The contact resistance of electrical connectors is one of the most important factors affectingthe reliability of the electrical connectors. During the normal operation, the low and stable con-tact resistance of electrical connectors is required. If the contact resistance of electrical connec-tors is too large, the temperature of electrical connectors may probably increase rapidly, thus theperformance of the electrical connectors will deteriorate and even cause fatal damage of theelectrical systems.Based on the analysis of the domestic and international researches on the testing technologyof contact resistance, this paper provides a kind of test method of the contact resistance. The testdevice designed mainly includes the IPC, the signal acquisition circuit and the signal processingcircuit. The tests on the contact resistance of a certain type of electrical connectors were carriedout, and the test result was analyzed.Four-terminal method is used in the design, it can effectively reduce the impact of the testwire to the measurement results. This design also uses high-precision and low-noice measuringamplifier, effectively reduce the error of measuring and improve the measurement accuracy. Inorder to improve the accuracy of measuring, this design takes both hardware and software as-pects to avoid the interference influence.In this paper, we are use the designed of monitoring device to monitor the electrical con-nector of M series made by Ningbo Zhongqiang. The electrical connector’s plug and socket areselected25M-3E and25M-3A. Finally, the contact resistance of electrical connector is analyzedand summarized at different temperature value.
