With the development of society, the single product design cannotmeet the complex customer needs. Mass customization has been playingan increasingly important role in today’s product design, and how todevelop a customer demand driven series product design method is thefocus of the present research. QFD is a traditional method of productdesign, and it has made great achievements in a single product design. Itcompletes the product design by transforming the customer needs intotechnical characteristics and then into components. However, how to usethe QFD to analysis the needs of the different market segments and makethe serious products design has not been well studied. In the other hand,with the increasing attention of the resources and environment, the designmethod of the product is also needed to be changed. The traditionalproduct design methods didn’t consider the environmental factors in theearly design process, so in the product using stage and the end-of-lifestage cause great harm not only for the environment, but also resulting ina great waste of resources.Under the driving of these two points, I put forward a new seriousproducts design method which can use the QFD design method into thegreen serious modular products. Through this method, it can complete thewhole design of the serious, not only the designing of the products butalso the building of products platform. And at the same it considers theenvironment problems in the whole stage of this method. This methodcan be carried out by two main stages, one is to calculate the componentsdegree variety and the other is to make a modular division of the basicproduct.1) In the first stage, I put forward the extension method of the QFD.First, get and analysis the requirement information of the products marketsegments, and then transform these requirement informant and difference into technical characteristics of series products. Second, analysis thesetechnical characteristics and find the platform technical characteristics.Last, design the serious products and establish the product platform andcalculate the diversity degree by using these technical characteristics andthere attributes.2) In this stage, I propose green modular design method of theserious products. I use the diversity degree of the basic components as animportant driver in the modular division, for the reason that the diversitydegree of the basic components reflects the platform attribute. So byusing this method, it can make the single modular division method into aserious products modular division method.Through these two stages, we combine the QFD, modular designmethod and green design method effectively, which complete this articleintends target accurately. Finally, we make the indoor air conditioner as acase to analysis and validate this method, and finding the effectiveness ofthe product platform and the usefulness of this method by comparing themodular division results of the proposed method and the traditionalmethod. In the end of this thesis, concepts of how to improve this methodhave been given by reviewing and concluding advantages anddisadvantages.
