Due to the different electricity infrastructures in various countries, people who travel abroad for business or tourists will encounter a lot of inconvenience in the use of portable appliances.Users can not easily charge the portable electrical appliances and have to carry some conversion equipment, which will absolutely increase the burden. Portable electrical integration design make user have no choice, but only can passively accept the existing products in the market. Therefore,in order to make portable appliances serve users better, we need to develop the research and development mode of the of portable appliances.This paper deeply studies the ways and means of modular design, modular design can help users solve the problem in portable appliances using in cross-border environment, user can select the appropriate modules according to their usage scenario, thereby the use problem can be solved though the product itself rather than by means of other ancillary products. Meanwhile modular design is a design method in high-volume conditions, it will not improve the cost during the product selection. Though developing a variety of functional modules under the premise of the basic framework of portable electronic products and collecting the needs of users, we can continually enrich the product module system, to provide users with more choices.This paper aims to develop a portable electrical product based on a modular design idea,under the premise of the definite interface and module division, design a basic framework of portable appliances and develop a modular system products around the basic framework. At the same time platform can be used as a redesign service window, allowing users to select their own product on one’s own initiative. All redesign operations on the platform are progressed in 3D visualization conditions, users can simply watch the results of the re-design according to the guidelines, this platform does not require users to have a very professional design capability, It can be operated by the general users.The fifth part of this thesis used examples of how portable chargers are developed on a development platform to illustrate three themes, i.e. the development process of portable electronic products, the method of designing modularity of portable chargers, and also how users can redesign using operating instruction. Portable chargers, as a typical portable electronic device, have a clear functional modularity, and can clearly demonstrate the development process of portable electronic devices. We will use examples to illustrate the feasibility and superiority of this particular method.In conclusion, by researching into the design of portable electronic devices using the principle of modularity design and combining modularity design with product development on the basis of the user needs of portable electronic devices under international condition, this articles aims to enable users to participate in the re-development process of portable electronic devices with minimum efforts and with a shifting attitude from passively accept products to actively designing products. This will provide an instruction and reference for all other development of portable electronic devices.
