Electric vehicles have the advantages of saving energy and low carbon emission,which can solve the global problems brought by conventional cars. In the future, theelectric vehicle will become the major form of green transportation.Starting with the introduction of the electric vehicle’s powertrain architecture,this paper briefly describes the principle of power system and the working process ofelectric vehicles, and gives the functional definition and overall structure of thevehicle controller.The hardware of electric vehicle controllers has been specifically studied.Accordance with the electric vehicle control systems, Infineon16-bit microcontrollerXC2268N was chosen as the master control processor. The hardware circuits ofminimum system of the chip, power management module, CAN communicationmodule, serial communication module, power-driven module and signal input modulehave been designed. With the faster operation speed and more abundant peripheralinterface on the processor, the designed controller has greatly improvement in realtime, stability, reliability, integration and power consumption reduction.The software architecture of the vehicle controller has been designed, includingtotal control of the controller, driving condition identification, braking energyfeedback control, CAN communication and AD conversion. The design makes fulluse of the powerful interrupt capability of XC2268N, which has improved thereal-time processing.Finally, the hardware and software of the controller has been debugged. Theproblems found during the debugging process have been adjusted and modified.Moreover, the experiment of drive motor speed regulation by vehicle controller andmotor controller was done,which laid the foundation for further study of vehiclecontrol strategy.
