Top and Seat Angle with Double Web Angles connection, one of thesemi-rigid connections that widely used in steel beam-to-columnconnections, is favored in domestic and international engineering. Thereare relatively more components and when loaded, it showed a clearnon-linear behavior, the form of force and deformation is complex.Currently, there is no specification for the design of the connection, theresearch on the connection is also not extensive and in-depth.In this paper, the nonlinear behavior of Top and Seat Angle withDouble Web Angles semi-rigid connection was analyzed bythree-dimension nonlinear finite element program. Compared with theexperimental result, the two results were dovetailed nicely with eachother. Detailed study of the deformation and mechanical behavior wascarried out. Through analyzing7series of total21Top and Seat Anglewith Double Web Angles connection samples by finite element anddiscussing the effects of those parameters to connection behaviors, itcomes to the conclusion that Top and Seat Angle with Double WebAngles connection is semi-rigid and its plastic deformability is good; thethickness of Top and Seat Angle, the height of the beam section and thebolt spacing of Top and Seat Angle connected with column flange hasgreat influence on mechanical properties of the node; given that capacityrequirements is satisfied, the thickness of the web angle, the height of the column section and the diameter of high-strength bolt has less influenceon mechanical properties of the node; transverse stiffeners in the web ofthe column to some extent can improve the deformation capability of theconnection. Based on the result of finite element analysis, the theoreticalcalculation methods of bearing capacity and initial stiffness to the Topand Seat Angle with Double Web Angles connection were established,and some suggestions on the design of Top and Seat Angle with DoubleWeb Angles connection were given.
