Deep soft soil is widely distributed in the area of Guangzhou. Because of lowstrength and big deformation of the soft soil, many problems of foundationengineering design and construction are caused. Based on soft soil ground settlementin new campus area of Guangzhou University and soft soil ground treatment inGuangzhou Municipality Nansha sub-bureau comprehensive serving center, dynamicdrainage consolidation method is selected, the application of performance-basedground treatment design method is discussed. The main contents are as follow:1. Engineering characteristics of silt sandy soil in Guangzhou is summarized. Onthe basis of the component maintenance problems which are caused by the groundsettlement in new campus area of Guangzhou University. The settlement monitoring,laboratory soil test and cone penetration test are adopted to analyze the soft soil in thisarea, the layer-wise summation method are used to calculate final settlement.2. According to the complexity of soil, imperfect of ground reliability, uncertaintyof testing methods, approximation of calculation methods and diversity ofconstruction methods, the conception of the performance-based ground treatmentdesign is put forward,4performance levels are suggested to divide respectively and6ranks performance objectives are proposed. The calculation method and main contentof the performance-based ground treatment design are analyzed, and the evaluationsof ground performance are given.3. Based on soft soil ground treatment in Guangzhou Municipality Nanshasub-bureau comprehensive serving center, ground treatment methods arecomparatively analyzed, dynamic drainage consolidation method is selected, thescheme design of this method is researched, and the application of performance-basedground treatment design is discussed. On the basis of surface settlement monitoring,pore water pressure monitoring, layered settlement monitoring, inclination monitoringmonitoring, side pile displacement monitoring, cone penetration test comparative,vane shear test comparative, Rayleigh wave test comparative, laboratory soil testcomparative, the reinforcement effect is evaluated. 4. The wireless monitoring of pore water pressure and layered settlement areadopted in the area of dynamic consolidation. According to failure of wirelessmonitoring of layered settlement, the failure reason is analyzed and the advice offurther optimization is put forward.5. On the basis of the MIDAS/GTS geotechnical analysis software, the finiteelement model of dynamic drainage consolidation method is established, thecalculation results of ground settlement, effective stress and pore water pressure,comparison between measured settlement and simulation settlement are analyzed andpost-construction settlement is predicted.
