2D CAD software is used to design ship structure traditionally. But it is repeating indrawing, inefficiency in revising, and it can’t hand over information.3D ship design systemsaren’t suitable for the feature of domestic ship industry. So it is meaningful to develop anintellect and easy-used ship structure preliminary design system. NuCAS system is a shipdesign integrate system witch was developed by MARIC. It was proved stable and strong. Itis practicable to develop structure system based on NuCAS.Based on this background, in this paper, a ship structure preliminary design system wasdeveloped by utilization of C++and database skills based on NuCAS. This system usedadvanced object-oriented skill, according to top-down design path, realized the purpose ofquick3D modeling by drawing drafts at the preliminary design period, and generatedstructure drawings quickly by given generate method. The system can extract information ofmodules and build up the topological relations between them, then the problem of repeatedlyrevising resolved, the efficiency was improved.The main contents are as followed:(1) The feature of several structure design systems were analyzed in order to find themethod of quick modeling and quick drawing;(2) The data structures and defining method of surf modules were analyzed. Surfmodules can be built when the shell which was built by NuCAS Lines Design System wasexisted; surf modules can be used as the relay on surf of structure components;(3) The data structures and defining method of structure components include beams,holes, plates and nodes were analyzed and the topological relations between modules werebuilt up. The function of quickly3D modeling was realized.(4) Function of quick generating of structure drawings when generate mode was givenwas realized, included projection drawing, section view, shell expansion plan, molded framelines. The topological relations between3D modules and2D drawings were built up. The datainterface between NuCAS and AutoCAD was built up by output DXF file.(5) A ship was designed by the utilization of NuCAS. The system was proved useful.
