The steel reinforced concrete (SRC)column owns the high load-bearing capacity,big stiffness,good resisting seismic and so on,and is used more and more widely.In order to meet the architectural layout and reduce the cost of component in the practical engineering application,the SRC column with asymmetric steel bone is often used.Its force performance is more complex.It is often under the combination of compression,bending,shearing and torsion.The axial compression raito as the influence SRC column force performance and ductility of important factor, it lacks of in-depth and systematic study.We almost can not find specific design requirement in many design specifications.The12specimens with T shape steel bone and12specimens with L shape steel bone is tested under low cyclic reversed loading.Failure patterns, hysteretic curves, skeleton curves, ductility of steel reinforced concrete columns with asymmetric steel are obtained by experimental tests of24specimens which are featured by axial compression ratio and hoop form.The influence of specimens parameters on seismic behaviors of the asymmetric-steel SRC column is analyzed.In this paper, the limit values of the axial compression ratio at home and abroad is understanded. Based on the understanding and the test results, the limit values of the axial compression ratio for asymmetric steel SRC column with different shear span ratio,which satisfies the given requirement of ductility are put forward.Through analyzing the columns which occurred flexural failure,the axial compression ratio of SRC column with asymmetric steel is calculated by the method which is based on the definition of balanced failure between tension failure and compression failure and the accumulative method.Through the analysis of the calculation results,the axial compression ratio of SRC column with asymmetric steel is shortage by the method which is based on the definition of balanced failure between tension failure and compression failure.The calculation results which is got from the accumulative method are more reasonable and credible.The research results show that SRC columns with asymmetric steel which is tested under low cyclic reversed loading have excellent seismic behavior.The appropriate limit value of axial compression ratio is obtained under the given requirement of ductility,and it can be expected to be referenced in engineering design.
