China is in a high-speed urbanization process now, and the city is changingrapidly. But there also lost a lot of things which can not be regained. In many cities ofchina, there are a large number of buildings which is retaining value but not theheritage buildings, facing demolition of all position. It is the direct cause of the thesame face of Chinese cities at present. The reuse of these buildings is the inevitablechoice to achieve its economic values re-use and its cultural value. In the practice ofbuilding re-use, we found that the problem has become more prominent in there-design of architectural morphology. By inducting the existing case of reuse of agedbuildings, it is not difficult to find that designers have strengthened both design andintegration of architectural morphology. The re-design of the morphology, on the onehand, can help transforming the new feature space, and more importantly iseffectively to continue and expand the history and place information in the existingbuildings on the other hand, reflecting the fusion of the aesthetic spirit of the old andthe new era. In this context, we should strengthen to study the update and re-design ofarchitectural morphology gradually. It is an inevitable choice to promote thedevelopment of this subject through a combination of theoretical study and practicalactivities. This paper focus on the concept of morphological reconstruction design andstudying the morphological re-design of existing buildings by research, induction andanalysis. We start from that architectural morphology is the theoretical basis of themorphological re-design, and also analyze the elements of morphological re-design.And then we introduce the concept of reconstruction as the starting point of research, and to interpret the guiding ideology of the morphological reconstruction from twoaspects. Following that, we analysis the affecting factors to morphologicalreconstruction of existing buildings, which it is in three aspects of "feeling" factor,"field" factor and "shape" factor. Particularly in the "shape" factor, it is subdivided intothree sub-factors of objective conditions of the existing buildings: the introduction ofnew technology, materials development and application, solving the problem of wherethe form come from. In the most main part of this article, we focus on buildingmorphological reconstruction techniques and features from total six aspects: volumereconstruction, scale reconstruction, the fa ade reconstruction, material reconstruction, color reconstruction and the detailed reconstruction. This paper solves the problem offabric between the original form factor of the existing buildings and new elements; Atend, combing with the status of China’s development, the paper points out the basiccontext and law of the reconstruction of the architectural morphology, and putsforward some specific operational measures. Finally, the paper points out theproposals of the next step of subject development from the architect’s perspective. It should be noted that morphological reconstruction is an important factor of impacting aged buildings reuse succeed or not. This paper intends to promote theoverall development of the building reuse through the study of morphologicalreconstruction.
