The Feasibility And Strategy Study On Block Type Affordable Community

Starts with the attention and consideration of the practical problems of the construction of affordable housing in China recent years, the author deals with the affordable housing problems based on the following facts:government’s increasing concern about livelihood; Chinese special characteristics " mass production"; a general lack of specified design and professional research on affordable housing; large scale construction of affordable housing is undoubted affecting cityscape and urban development, from which any failure would not be a disaster and could not addressed or afforded. In the big context, protective block type settlement pattern is proposed. This proposal realizes affordable community as an effective social solution to ease the problem of survival and development of low-income group; and also works as the continuation of local urban traditional texture.First the problems and their origins of the current affordable community planning are identified and analyzed. From which we could conclude that the model of existing affordable community is not effective in low-income groups and would even more isolate the low-income group and reduce the vitality of their community. Next, the definition and advantages of the block type community are introduced. Then, based on the fact that the block type affordable housing is not popularizing the trend, reasons lead to the fact are analyzed from method, development and design aspects. Thus, the possibility of promotion the popularity are discussed in seven aspects separately, which including the characteristics of affordable housing, the dominant position of the government, the interests of residents, the interests of developers and some open and basic policies, etc. In the end, the optimization strategies and suggestions are made correspondingly from method, development and design aspects to promote the practice of block type affordable community.
