China is a country with large population but lacks of water resources relatively, and the temporal and spatial distribution of water resources is uneven, water-soil resource and production arrangement do not match well. Since water shortage and electric supply problem is becoming severe day by day, it turns to be an important topic on how to increase the utilization efficiency and benefit of water resource which related to the Sustainable Development of economic society and people’s life standard. Currently One of the most urgent problem is to analyze on reservoir water-sediment optimal operation.Water-sediment optimal operation, that is to control and regulate water and sediment effectively, change the imbalance status into adaptation between water and sediment, and reduce sedimentation of downstream channel, even approach non-sedimentation as possible. The whole model is composed by two parts:reservoir optimal dispatching model and sediment calculation, which are band together though the transmission of water level parameters. This paper includes6chapters and below is the contents of each chapter:Chapter1A brief review of studies on the origin, development, conclusion and methods on current reservoir operation and reservoir sedimentation is presented.Chapter2Analysis of the reservoir using reservoir sediment erosion and deposition methods on the impact of sediment erosion and deposition are listed in the model, and the establishment of the reservoir sedimentation calculation model.Chapter3Describes the successive multi-objective optimization theory and optimization algorithms (POA), and in accordance with the biggest goal of generating capacity, the reservoir capacity of power generation goals and objectives effectively and organically combined water scheduling.Chapter4Three Gorges reservoir sedimentation, sedimentation of the reservoir model is validated.Chapter5The Three Gorges Reservoir as an example, the use of the POA to establish optimal operation model of water and sediment, and sediment in the reservoir sedimentation reduction in power generation target of this contradiction between the objective function to solve the calculation.Chapter6Based on analyzing and summarizing the existing operation of water and sediment, and prospect further study in the future.
