Public buildings represent the image of the city, moreover, they are important parts of city landscape. So they have an important position in the city. Some public buildings which are out of the lifetime should be demolished, but others should be protected and repaired or need be renovated. This article focuses on those public buildings to be renovated in cities.In today’s china, with the rapid development of economy, city construction shows a hitherto unknown prosperity. Yet, it leads to many new problems. The problems of inappropriate layout, bad quality, deformed facade of public buildings are very extrusive. Therefore, many public buildings will be a state of being removed. To prolong the lifetime of uses, the renovation of architecture is a common-concerned topic. There are many means to renew buildings, the cost of renovation of exterior walls is lower and it makes the buildings beautiful effectively. So this article takes the topic as the research on the renovation of exterior walls of public buildings, and focus on the research of architecture style.According to the on-site investigation and document data, the achievement of research on facade design at home and abroad. Massive examples and works designed by composers. The ways and principles of facade renovation of public buildings are analyzed.These design methods and principles can not pay attention to all, but the writer hope to emphasize the research on architecture style of exterior walls and make the detailed elaboration, and. conclude some design issues which conform to Chinese conditions, and hope these design principles can provide the theoretic support for the renovation of exterior walls.
