Abstract/Summary:
As the competition in auto market becomes fierce, auto companies have to launch different types of car quickly. Bodywork of different styles is needed to give in the conceptual design of new car. It is required to create a number of different clay model which is used to express the bodywork of different styles by traditional design method, this method is time consuming. Bodywork of different styles can be acquired quickly as the mesh deformation method is applied to automobile body. But the degree of freedom of existing mesh deformation is too big, so the digital models after mesh deformation can not meet the design requirements which can not be adopted. In consideration of requirements of automobile body design, the paper studied the key technology of mesh deformation based on constraints of automobile body hard points.First, the use of mesh deformation for the automobile body style design was used. The free-deformation method based on NURBS was applied to automobile body deformation.Second, the knowledge-based intelligent design system of body hard points was structured, the digital model of automobile body hard points layout was created. The layout design of body hard points was accomplished by CATIA V5, the database of critical measurement for body hard points layout design was established. With the use of database access technology and second development, the system was completed. Finally, the outflow fields of the automobile body was simulated with the software FLUENT, which was used to prove the effectiveness of mesh deformation for automobile body. The distance between body hard points and body mesh model was measured, which was able to limit the scope of mesh deformation. The result of numerical simulation before and after the mesh deformation were contrasted and analyzed, and the effectiveness of mesh deformation for automobile body was proved.
