BIW(Body in White)is the car’s skeleton,is one of the most important automible parts.The quality level of the BIW depends on body shop production line’s situation.The level of the body shop production line depends on process planning and layout design.At present,process planning and layout design methodology of the flexible boyshop production line is not go deeply.Only a few companies know use simulation software to build body shop production line’s model and to do body shop production line’s throughput simulation optimization work.The paper focuses on boy shop production line.Process planning and layout design of the BIW flexible production line is analyzed and researched.The bodyshop production line’s throughput simulation optimization work base on Simul8 software is done in this paper.Key contents of the paper are as follows:Firstly,the structure of BIW and the composition of body shop production line are analyzed;the commonly used joining technology of BIW is introduced.Joining technology include resistance spot welding technology,medium frequency welding technology,MIG welding,stud welding,laser welding,Mechanical riveting technology.These are the basis for the process planning and layout design of the body shop production line.Secondly,it studies the process planning and layout design of the BIW flexible body shop production line.The technical parameters of boyshop production line and their design method are discussed;include the cycle time(CT),mean time to repair(MTTR),mean time between failure(MTBF),availability,stations’ quantity and equipments’ quantity.The composition of flexible body shop production line is analyzed.As well the procedure of flexible body shop production line project’s planning and design is also analyzed.Their include expectation of flexible body shop production line’s capacity,vehicle model mix analysis table,process sheet,Process block layout,process layout.Evaluation methods of the flexible body shop production line’s technical proposal are studied.Evaluation methods include the cycle time evaluation method,the process performance evaluation method,the investment evaluation method,the flexible evaluation method and so on.Integration process of the flexible body shop production line’s process layout is studied according to Autocad software.Also application of planning and design in flexible body shop production line’s project is researched.Finally,base on Simul8 software,the body shop production line through simulation and optimization is done.The concept of simulation and simulation software Simul8 is introduced.The procedure of simulation is analyzed.It studies the data input of Simul8 is as follows:project related data such as production volume,production line model mix,etc.tooling equipment related data such as design cycle time(CT),production line’s run and downtime data(MTBF/MTTR)etc.It studies the data output of Simul8 is as follows:buffer chart,station run status,JPH(Job Per Hour)chart,JPH histogram,production line segment’s JPH bar chart,the overall body shop production line’s bar chart.Then it studies the Simul8 VL(Visual Logic)language.In the end base on Simul8 software,the simulation optimization work of body shop production line is studied.This paper promotes the development of the planning and design theory of the auto BIW body shop production line.The simulation based on simul8 software can verify and optimize the auto BIW body shop production line’s throughput.So the article has some value in the science and engineering.
