Column-supported steel silo, as a simple and economical structural, is widely used in industry fields including mining、metallurgy、grain and cement industry. In recent years, many scholars had studied steel silo structural behavior, especially for stability behavior. But most of studies were based steel silo structure on uniform supports. It is little that studying the structural behavior of steel silo on local supports, that bring the designers some difficulties. So practical steel silos have grave hidden dangers, some of which had collapsed. Based on a column-support collapsed steel silo in a practical project, this paper systematically studied these steel silo structural mechanical properties and stability in numerical analysis including linear stress analysis, linear eigenvalue buckling analysis, non-linear buckling analysis and time interval analyses. This paper main content is as follows:1、Based on field measurement and material experiment, the finite element model of columon-support steel silo was found. The calculation method of silo storage material load and calculation formula of silo storage material were studied, when storage material density was keeping varies.2、The two kinds of column-support steel silo that classfied by whether considering initial imperfections or not bear storage material load stress, strain and distribution features were studied by linear stress way. The results show that, near the top of columon supported and transition junction, steel wall has stress-focus phenomenon and radial deformation is much big. Columon-support steel silo buckling deformation mode was obtained in eigenvalue buckling analyses method.The buckling deformation mode shows that steel wall at first buckled near the top of columon supported and the columon-supported is much stable. Otherwise, the existance of initial imperfection also has different influence on the stability of structure in different load situation.3、The stability of the two kinds of columon-supported steel silo that classfied by whether considering initial imperfections or not was studied in geometrically nonlinear and elastic-plastic buckling analysis. When the steel silo was geometrically nonlinear buckling analysis, the biggest von miss stress of silo wall and columon supported exceeds material yield strength. There exists a certain range plastic zone in silo wall near the top of column supported.The column-supported still is elastic. Otherwise, the existance of initial imperfection also has different influence on the stability of structure in different load situation.4、Based on buckling analysis, this paper further studied the dynamic of the two kinds of silo classfied by whether considering initial impections or not under the earthquake, and provided corresponding results of stress and displacement.5、Finally, in this paper all the results of research are summarizes and the further study suggestions are provided.
