With the rapid development of Chinese economic and the improvement of housing problems, people need more healthy and oriented environments settled. Therefore, it’s badly needed that the designers explore the diversity of national culture in the trend of world economic integration. This paper will illustrate how to provide a healthy environment that people can build up strength and have a sense of belonging by combining the beautiful decoration and the necessary function based on the traditional Chinese health preserving theory.Firstly, the author explored the relationship between people and the development of gardens and analyzed the traditional garden "learn from nature" design philosophy in collecting scientific literature about the classical landscape architecture and the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine; Meanwhile the author analyzed the traditional medicine with simple dialectical materialism theory of keeping healthy and explored the overall and balanced method of treatment according to the theory of syndrome differentiation, the " preventive treatment of disease" as well as the idea of complying with the four law, the tranquil and action less and so on.Secondly, the author put forward that the landscape design should focus on field the fluent and environmental balance through the analysis of the nature and characteristics of landscape elements and the combination of health concepts and modern living environment principle. In addition the author proposed that the " a" to" cure" principle and explored the modern health landscape design methods and principles based on the ancient garden organic ingredients combining with the reality, local climate, environment and culture of our country.Finally, the author compared the old garden with the modern settlement from the view of traditional Chinese medicine and proved that the theoretical basis of landscape design. The author also made a further research on the design about how to demonstrate national characters by referring to the external decorative elements.
