With the improvement of people’s living standards and the increasing number of vehicles, vehicles have become an indispensable travel tools for people’s lives. Due to the large size and inconvenient action of pregnant women, the most possible may for pregnant women to go out is the car, so the number of pregnant occupant has also increased. Pregnant women are the carrier of the future, how to ensure the safety of pregnant occupant has attracted more and more attention. But the research on pregnant occupant is still in its initial stage. Furthermore, there isn’t any special protection system designed for pregnant women in car, so the design of a specifically safety restraint system for pregnant occupant protection has an extremely important significance.In this paper, based on the uterus structure and injury mechanism of fetus, the protective system for pregnant woman during vehicle crash was studied. To protect the pregnant passenger, a multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt was proposed, which can cooperate with the traditional three-point belt. The multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt was consist of two different parcel fabric, abdominal belt and leg belt. Which was used to provide protection for different pregnancy pregnant women. For pregnancy in three months and less, The multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt was composed of a radiation prevention of sheets of fabric and abdominal belt; For pregnancy more than three months, The multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt was composed of parcel fabric, abdominal belt and leg belt. In order to make multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt can be used by pregnant women of different size pregnancy, the sample of multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt was produced and adorned actually. To analyze the effect of this kind of safety belt, uterus model and pregnant occupant model at gestational age of30-weeks were developed and validated. Frontal and side impact simulations at different impact speed with pregnant passenger wore the belt or not were conducted. The results of the simulations verify that the multi-function combined-type wrapping safety belt can reduce the uterine strain at UPI and the possibility of placental abruption. Further simulations of different ways of wearing show that the belt should touch the abdomen totally when applied.
