With the rapid growth of the economy and the acceleration of urbanization,many cities have entered urban rail transit era. In the past two decades, Beijingwitnessed the booming of its urban rail transit system and hou sing projects. Thi sarticle is the basic research about the layout of residential area along the rail transitin Beijing.Rail traffic can improve the accessibility of the land along the rail and guid eurban spatial development, also contribute to the changes of living space and thedistribution of the residents. The design research of the living space along railtransit helps to promote the rational development of the living space, buildingsustainable city through the effective integration of the living space and rail transit.This study analysis the basic ideas of living space and rail transportationdevelopment, reference TOD related research results at home and abroad, search ingfor t reasonable development model of residential are a concept along rail transit.Taking residential area along rail transit in Beijing as the research object, thispaper analyzes the Beijing problems existing in the residential area along railtransit, and discusses suitable layout forms of residential areas in Beijing.Through the investigation and research of five typical residential areas alongBeijing rail transit line13,This article discu ssed the current situation and problemsin the residential area under the influence of the urban trail, such as planning andlayout of residential area, pu blic facilities, and the transportation. In theoryreference and example analysis basis, the article expounded the situation, featuresand improves way of the design space layout of residential area along rail transitfrom land use, residential area planning and layout, living space design, urban railtransportation and other of the means of transportation cohesion etc.
