Development and application of the air-cooling technology in the power plants, and the process flow, equipment composition and main feature of three different kinds of commonly used air-cooling systems are briefly introduced. Combined with experience of system design, construction, installation, operation and maintenance in other similar projects, applicability of different kinds of air-cooling systems are proposed, considering environment, weather, construction conditions and commissioning. At the same time, taking an actual2x1000MW power plant project in China as an example, selection of the cooling system for main equipments, determination of the main facilities and comprehensive optimizing calculation, technology comparison and economic analysis of different applicable air-cooling systems are researched for a large coal-fired air-cooling unit. Through optimization analysis and comprehensive comparison, the appropriate kind of air-cooling system for main equipments, system main design parameters and arrangement are finally determined.
