| Reasonable urban spatial structure will be beneficial to the combination of various elements of inner city space and optimization of the overall urban layout, and have an important role in the realization of the ecological, sustainable and harmonious urban development. How to effectively optimize the urban spatial structure has great practical significance for China because it is in a period of accelerated urbanization and an increasing number of urban issues. The paper first analyzes and summarizes the development and optimization of urban spatial structure of China, than analyzes the historical development and current situation of Hengyang urban spatial structure, meanwhile discusses the participants and the dynamic and studies the variety of problems, finally proposes the optimization goal which to build open, regional, ecological, sustainable and harmonious urban spatial structure and scientific and rational optimization schemes about Hengyang urban spatial structure, These studies can provide reference and experience in order to well guide the Hengyang city construction.This paper is composed by5parts:Part1:Introduction. It introduces the background, purpose, significance, methods, content and basic concept of this research.Part2:Basic party. It obtains the dynamic mechanisms, mechanisms of action and rules of the evolution of urban spatial structure after analyzing the evolutions of cities. Then it lists a number of successful experiences about optimization of urban spatial structure.Part3:Main party. It analyzes the historical evolution, present situation, the evolution’s participants and dynamic of Hengyang city’s urban spatial structure, then point out some problems of the development of it.Part4:Important party. It proposes the purpose, principle, content and design of optimization of Hengyang city’s urban spatial structure.Part5:Conclusion and Outlook.
