In recent years, with the rising level of opening up in China, Europe, China and the international powers of traditional design, product design is often compared, but it is undeniable that China’s own brands in the product identification lags far behind Europe and the United States countries as well as Japan and South Korea and other Asian design developed countries.Firstly, the concept of product identification and related theories are combed in this paper, inferring that the product identification should be a user-centric design approach. Secondly, the idea that China is in the role of recipient, with which are many disadvantages in the worldwide competition, is raised. Thus explaining the importance of user-centric design in the product identification.With research and analysis, author summed up the essential characteristics of the design method of the Netherlands, which is representing the best level of European PI design. Then strive to conclude the principles of the method of user-centric PI design which is fit to China, and ultimately to provide reference and help for China to form its own identity design system. The main purpose of this research is enhancing the level of China’s PI design, thus transforming China from the recipient to the conveying one.
