Research On The User Centered Design Of Refrigerator User Interface

User Interface is a bridge between human and machine. It affects thehuman-machine interaction effect directly, therefore becomes a decisive factor for aproduct, which affects customers'desire to buy.User Centered Design comes to be the new trend of industrial design today. Thepurpose is to provide more attractive interfaces with better usability.User Centered Design focuses on end users, no matter what the product is. Userprofiting and task analysis will help to set up the concept design; fast prototype showsalternative design and demonstration; usability test is an efficient way to pinpoint theshortcomings of design and to make appropriate modifications before release. Byfollowing the iterative process, designers can make well-informed decision, so as tocreate and refine the user interface.The design process and methodology are applied for design of refrigerator'scontrol panel. In this case, focus group was conducted to analyze user requirement andtask. Based on paper prototype, usability test gave many hints for design improvement.Users'satisfaction on redesign proved that the design process is effective and feasible.
