Research On The Implementation Technique Of PDM System For Small And Medium-sized Enterprise Based On Pro/INTRALINK

Product data management (PDM) is a technology which can realize the integration management of product data、process and resource. It is based on software, taking product as the core. It creates a parallel collaborative environment for the product designing, manufacturing and provides lifecycle information management for the product in the enterprise. With the increasingly fierce market competition, more and more companies are planning to apply PDM in order to shorten product development cycles, improve product development quality, lower product development costs. In China, economic and technical strength of small and medium-sized enterprise is relatively weak, and these enterprises should not invest a large number of human and financial resources. So the selection of PDM system should be convenient and practical, technologically advanced, simply implemented.This thesis particularly introduces several functions of PDM system:electronic data vault and document management, classification and query management, product structure and configuration management, workflow management and project management. Then it describes some technologies about databases, client/server and e-mail transmission which support PDM system. At last, this thesis discusses the target、steps and key points of PDM application in small and medium-sized enterprise, as well as the method of establishing information model.Pro/INTRALINK is the PTC company’s PDM product. It is a department-level product data management software which is mainly used in the design department. It completely encapsulates the Pro/ENGINEER software, and provides a dynamic collaborative environment which support Pro/ENGINEER fast effective design method. This article elaborates small and medium-sized enterprise product data management solution of planetary gear automatic gearbox design which is based on the Pro/INTRALINK. It contains hardware and software configuration and network architecture, Pro/INTRALINK installation, the configuration between Pro/ENGINEER and Pro/INTRALINK and so on. The specific data management method contains the establishment of folders、users and groups, the role of authority distribution, the definition of release program and level, object type definition. In addition, it introduces other related applications of the Pro/INTRALINK system, such as object view, message transfer mechanism, concurrent and collaborative mechanism, bill of material report and the automatic database backup and recovery.According to the specific requirements, small and medium-sized enterprise users can do the customized work to develop user-friendly application program using Pro/INTRALINK Toolkit, when they do product data management using Pro/INTRALINK. This article briefly describes some programming technology and several problems when using Pro/TOOLKIT for the secondary development, such as using VC++to connect to Pro/INTRALINK local database.The research of this subject can provide detailed reference for the small and medium-sized enterprise to understand and apply PDM, improving production efficiency, reducing production costs, and promoting the development of enterprises.
