With the global economic development trade is becoming more and more international. More than80%goods transportation is achieved by sea, and more than90%in China, result in more attention being given to the problem that ship ballast water lead to invasion of alien species. Owing to the range of ship transportation being extensive, the hazard and influence caused by ballast water becomes world widely. Where appropriate, it is essential to conduct ballast water risk assessment and give exemption of the ballast water management to the ship and facilitate ship transportation. This thesis choosed Inchon-Tianjin trading route, comparing similarity between these two ports. Different environmental factors were selected, and similarity was calculated for each parameter, the final result was obatianed and environment conparsion between the two ports was carried out.Because of Inchon port being similar as the Tianjin port, this thesis took the vessel named Tianren for example that navigats between the two ports, and adopted species-specific risk assessment method to assess the risk. The main works of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, six environmental factors such as temperature, salinity were slected, collected for each port. Taking Inchon as donor port, Tianjin as recipient port, similar analysis between the two ports was conductd, and the statistical results of ships navigating in this line were analysed.Secondly, the environmental similarity was analyzed and the environmental similarity was divided into two elements, i.e. norm similarity and direction similarity. In terms of weight, objective method was used.Thirdly, in accordance with G7, the Dinophysis caudate was selected as target species.Fourthly, taking the vessel named Tianren as example, secies specific risk assessment method was adopted and the risk assemsnt results at each stage were naylyzied.Based on the calculation of environmental similarity, the similarity sequence of environmental factors was obtained:PH>density>temperature>Solubility>Inorganic nitrogen>Inorganic phosphorus. The assessment results indicated that the risk levelof Dinophysis caudate through ship ballast water between Inchon and Tianjin is high in June and October, mediate in July and September and low the other month. Comprehensive analises were carried out and ballast water management exemption may be granted to ships that trade between Inchon and Tianjin.
