A Study On Transmutation Of Chinese Garden-Passageway And Framework

With the rich and varied natural landscape types of Chinese territory, as well as the influence of the penetration of the Chinese traditional culture, the features of Chinese architecture have been formed:not purely to increase the architecture body mass, but to extend the layout of the plan to form the dispersed and flexible cluster.And from the outset, the corridor has become part of the main construction and the passageway has become the contact component among single buildings.As the main forming element of the Chinese garden, Landscape architecture becomes a finishing touch in the natural landscapes, and an excellent place for tourists to rest and enjoy the scenery. Garden-passageway and framework, often become the contact point of construction and can organize the tour route. At the same time, its architectural form, decorative style, and the application of various materials have formed the landscape function of themselves. Under the influence of Taoism’s "Nature and Humanity", which advocates the harmony between nature and human, the construct form and artistic pursuit of garden-passageway and framework also appreciate the creative essence of the traditional garden:although be built by the people, they resemble natural. They have been widely applied in morden landscape.With the rapid constructing and development of landscape architecture, we have found out that the emerging practice cases often present the phenomenons of Optional ornament, stereotyped, boring and grotesque in the layout and form.How to inherit the essence of traditional garden-passageway and framework to provide a strong basis and reference for today’s design, has becomes the problems faced by the author, and i hope the study of the transumatation of the garden-passageway and framework could become some guiding significance for today’s design.This paper, based on relative researches about garden-passageway and framework at home and abroad, determines the concept and scope of the objects of this study. It starts with the development history of Gallery and frame compares with the west Gallery, sums up the characteristics of t garden-passageway and framework, and analyzes influences caused by society, philosophy, and culture. Taking the above research as basis, this paper makes a systematic and specific study on Gallery’s development, from aspects of function formation process, constructional frame, decorative style, colour and colour painting, and materials, and comes to the conclusion of its own aesthetic features and categories. Finally, with the practice cases survey on garden-passageway and framework in Chongqing’s parks, residential districts, andcampus, this paper evaluates their inheritance and application, and pointed out the problems in the development, aiming to guide the present design.
