The Study And Application On Aircraft Assembly And Maintenance Based On Virtools

The virtual assembly and maintenance technology which was developed on the basis of Virtual technology is a new technology. Since it is used extensively in the area of teaching, aviatic and astronautic industries, etc, it is considered to be the most potential developing technology.According to domestic and foreign development of the assembly and maintenance of the aircraft and the low level automation and mechanization of the traditional assembly and maintenance, a virtual assembly and maintenance method was presented in the Virtools environment. As a virtual reality software with well interaction and strong immersion, Virtools not only supports multiple file formats, but also provides the industry standard of Dassault Systemes’ file format, 3D XML, making the industrial simulation more convenient and faster.In this paper, firstly it introduced the domestic and foreign development of the virtual assembly and maintenance, the CATIA model of the plane was displayed based on Virtools5.0. Secondly a secondary development of BB model was made by combining the interface of the data glove and head-mounted display(HMD) based on virtools4.0 and adopting Microsoft visual studio.NET2003 as a compiler tool. Then the virtual hand model was made in the 3 DS Max software in order to realize the interaction of Virtools software and virtual interaction devices. Thirdly the assembly and maintenance were displayed by using the interactive module in Virtools. The virtual maintenance is put forward in aircraft maintenance which can greatly improve the efficiency of the maintenance, and it was verified in the maintenance of a certain aeroengine and the cabin seats.
