Urban railway system, as a big traffic volume, rapid, comfortable, safe and modern form of transportation, greatly ameliorate the area condition along the line and around the station as well as attracting a mount of city activities assemble together through the improvement of accessibility, which is beneficial to the efficient evacuation of population in the downtown area and optimize the urban space shape, promote scientific land utilization around the station as a result.With the development of economy and improvement of urbanization level in Chengdu, the number of private car is aggrandizing year by year. Problems related to environment and traffic congestion become increasingly severe, which have already affected the progress of entire city system. The construction of subway system provides an effective method to deal with those city problems. Since the accelerating of Chengdu subway construction, the issues about land development near the stations draw more and more attentions.At first, this article has a review about foreign advanced planning theory and gets relevant inspiration about railway traffic land development from it. Further more, it researches mountains of cases in China and analyzes common problems about land utilization surrounding traffic sites in our country and eventually finds the source to solve those problems through learning the successful cases in Tokyo and Hong Kong.Secondly, base on the foundation of researches about theories and cases, the text analyzes railway traffic line’s influences on the city space shape, rail stations’effects on land utilization of surrounding areas, land utilization patterns of different rail transit station types, the comprehensive three-dimensional space development of surrounding cities and reasonable connection of rail transportation and other trip modes, etc. It summarizes the mutual relations between rail transit stations and land utilization of surrounding areas systematically. Thereinto, it especially focus on analyzing the roles different type stations play in the city structure construction and the dynamical mechanism of surrounding area land development, thereby sums up the reasonable land use patterns.Finally, this article take the Chengdu Metro Line for example, conducting field survey of land utilization around16sites and combined with traffic data to analyze the relationship of the station and surrounding land use. We compare the selected sites from three types of stations:city type, pivot type and residential site type with the same type of sites of Shanghai, finding out the existing problems. From the optimization of land use surrounding the sites, the comprehensive and stereoscopic spaces development of nearby cities and connection with other trip modes three aspects, it concludes the optimization strategy of the surrounding land use about three typical type sites along the Chengdu Metro Line:to the stations located in the city at all levels of public center and business center, the suggestion is to adopt the " local update" optimization strategy; for the junction stations located on the fringe of the city, the suggestion is to use the" overall reform" optimization strategy; and for the residential sites, which located in the large residential areas of a city, the suggestion is to use the" center reconstruction"optimization strategy.
