Large space building has brought some problems to building fire. Conventional fire-fighting equipment is difficult to do something useful in the large space building properly. Water mist fire suppression technology, has the advantage of no environmental pollution, rapid fire suppression, fewer water using and so on. System water storage, drainage and final clean-up work have been reduced because the water mist fire extinguishing system is not easy to cause splashing and the system itself needs small amount of water.In this paper, the water mist fire extinguishing system is considered to be used in tall buildings by analyzing characteristics and advantage of the fire extinguishing. By analyzing the high risk of the tall buildings and application limits of the related fire extinguishing system, It is considered to research how to use water mist fire system in atrium——special and more dangerous fire scenario in tall buildings.Then according to the characteristics of the atrium building, It is considered to choice the layout way of the fire-fighting systems and the fire detection system. The range of parameters when the horizontal of the water mist reaches the ideal distance are found through numerical simulation results of the extinguishing effect of a single sprayer in water mist system. The range of each parameter which meets the requirements relatively is found though changing the value of a single parameter and testing the affect of the system on the spraying effect and extinguishing effect. The numerical simulation of the water mist fire extinguishing system is proceeded by using sprayer、combustion source and system parameter. The orthogonal is used to the test by combine some parameters. The appropriate group of factor levels will be found out through the computer analysis.Finally, the simulation results are used to analysis layout requirements of nozzle system, and consider the layout requirements of water mist fire-extinguishing system by practical application.
