With economic development in recent years, the National Civil car ownership isgetting higher and higher. At the same time, complex traffic conditions makes the enginework in the conditions of the difference speed range. Such working conditions deviatefrom the specified speed, so the actual conditions of the engine with eng intake andexhaust structure, valve setting uncoordinated lead to the power of engine performancedecline. The volumetric efficiency will affect the power of the engine performance. Thispaper has two parts. First, through the analysis of the inlet pressure wave, the study willimprove intake manifold structure parameters. Second, through the numerical simulation, the study seeks the relatively ideal variable valve timing, so as to improve the power ofthe engine performance. In this paper, the process simulation engine analysis theory and method areexamined, and simulation calculation for the work process of LJ465Q engine using theprofessional GT-Power simulation software. Calculations showed that the establishedcalculation models of the work process and the original machine’s tested value isconsistent. It is important to the next step of the analysis. According to the workingprinciple of the internal combustion engine, this paper analyzes the influence of thepressure wave and the volumetric efficiency under different structure size of inlet andexhaust manifold. Find out the trend of these parameters on the engine power andimprove that. The calculation results show that the dynamic performance of the gasolineengine is greatly improved through the optimization of the intake system.Because the original engine adopts a traditional valve train, the valve timing can’tchange with the engine operation conditions. This makes the engine unable to utilize thewave effect of the intake system to improve the volumetric efficiency at the low speeds. This paper introduces the characteristics of the technology for Variable Valve Timing andthe camshaft phase shift theory is adopted. The calculation results show that the enginedynamic performance at the low speed is greatly improved. This is further proof thesuperiority of the technology. In summary, the engine performance is improved by optimizing the intake manifoldand adopting the Variable Valve Timing. The results of simulation analysis provide animportant basis for the design and improvement of the engine. It will take the enginedesign methods and theoretical research into a new stage of development.
