Tujia Diaojiao building is the one of most unique traditional dwellings in southChina.The rise of Tujia Diaojiao building is unable to be parted with long-term fusionand evolution between the unique mountain landscape and traditional culture.As akind of special dwelling style which adapts to the landscape of mountain,it has highvalue of protection and utilization.It not only reflects the strong characteristics ofregional culture and unique character, but also has an important influence on the lifeof Tujia.However,with the multiple propulsion of a series of ideas,such asmodernization and updating urban and rural structure, the way of life style in Tujiapeople have changed,which makes Tujia people dramatically change their ideas andawareness of Tujia Diaojiao building.Learning and the inheritting the skills of creatingTujia Diaojiao building is being challenged, mainly including as follow: foreignculture shocks the traditional concept,the desalination of public consciousness forTujia Diaojiao building, the impact of the new building elements,and artisans switchtheir career.In a word,the skill and inheritance of Tujia Diaojiao building faces"fault"crisis.Therefore,how to inherit and protect this material entity,strengthening researchfor the skills of creating Tujia Diaojiao building,training and supporting the traditionalbearers of this skill, and establishing and perfecting the mechanism of inheritance andprotection remain to be done.This paper which is based on fieldwork,selects Mr.long and Mr.hu as the case,and uses the theory of Cultural Change,attempts to read the Field theory in the skillsof creating Tujia Diaojiao building. What’s more, it uses related theories to furtherdiscuss the Diaojiao building entity, the methods of creating and the way ofinheritance,sums up characteristic of the process of the inheritance in the skills ofcreating Tujia Diaojiao building,tries to reveal the characteristics of the combinationbetween Tujia Diaojiao building and environment from the side, and puts forward thestrategy of inheritance and protection of the skills of creating Tujia Diaojiao building.
