Research on vehicle handling stability needs many repeated tests on sample.vehicle. It not only greatly consumes and needs long design period, but also some ofthe experiments are difficult to carry because of its security. But, by using the virtualsimulation methods, once the vehicle model is finished, it becomes simple to modifythe design parameters for re-simulation. Today, simulation technology is increasinglywidely used in automotive engineering fields, more and more mature computersimulation theory and software for high-performance simulation are widely used inthe handling stability analysis and research. Combined with the aided design means, they can be directly used in the guidance and participation in the analysis, optimization and improvement for automotive design parameters. In this paper, by introducing the multi-body system dynamics theory andresearch methods, the multi-body dynamics software MSC.ADAMS was used. As theprototype of a coach, by modifying the template parameters and hard point position, the front suspension systems, steering systems, rear suspension systems, brakesystems, power-train systems, body, tires, and other subsystems were established andvehicle model was set up by using ADAMS/CAR. The simulation tests were carriedaccording to GB for full vehicle model, including steering wheel angle pulse inputtest, steering wheel angle step input test, single lane change test, sine sweeping turntest, constant radius turning test, steering return ability test. The result shows that thisvehicle has good response characteristic of side slip angle of the mass center, whichindicates that it can control its motion well. However, the lateral acceleration and rollrate is bigger than ideal valve. Therefore, this coach needs to be optimized andimproves to lighten the load for drivers.
