The Study On The History Of Tanggu Modern City Planning And Construction

Useing time as a clue,this article studies on the the urbanization process that the city gof Tanggu deserted from a small village developing into a big port city from the perspective of urban planning and construction,at the same time,this article organizes and analysises the occurred important plannings and constructions in the process.This study uses the theories and methods of Urban Planning、Economic Geography、History Etc,and then through analysising the existing researches and the important historical data collected,esplores the main driving force of promoting development of Tanggu,the history position of the New Port,the evolving relationship of Tianjin and Tanggu. According to the characteristics of Tanggu modern urban development,its modern history o is divided into three periods:1、From 1860 to 1900:In this period,the Gyeonggi region has often been the threat of territorial seas,as the barrier of the Beijing and Tianjin,its military position suddenly is improved,and gains much attention from the Qing Court. In 40 years,the Qing court continued constructuring dock、telegraph lines and other military facilities,strengthening the ties with Tianjin.In this period,Tanggu”s constructions focused on military facilities.This period is called“garrison on stage”.2、From 1900 to 1936:The first building boom.of Tanggu in its modern urban development history. During this period,a large number of terminals were built along the Haihe Rive at Tanggu,in 1888,railway passed to Tanggu and resulted a revolutionary change in traffic conditions,land and water transport could be achieved,that laid the foundation for the Tanggu becomeing an important goods distribution center in North China. In addition,the development of national industry greatly promoted the process of urbanization in Tanggu,This period is called the "transport and industrial development stage".3、From 1937 to 1949:The construction of the Tanggu New Port had a profound impact on urban development.During this period,Tanggu produced its first urban planning,in the planning,Tanggu has been classified to Tianjin district,the nature and direction of urban development has also been identified. The construction of the Tanggu New Port becomed Tanggu”s main contents.This period can be called“Newport construction phase”. This study fills the research gaps of urban planning and construction in Tanggu,provides a deep background for the follow-up study and the protection of cultural heritage about Tanggu.
