Historical villages contain the culture, wisdom, and ideology of a nationality. It isour treasure, and it also is our future. During the process of reading historical villages,not only can we obtain the experiences about the village planning, space organizationand construction skill from our ancestor, but also we can understand the soul of culturelike society condition, group consciousness and national cognition. The significance ofprotecting historical villages is to continue our culture gene which can distinguishourselves and others. The meaning of developing historical villages is to provide plentyof windows which can help others to know ourselves. Consequently, it is ourresponsibility and obligation to protect and develop the historical villages and it is alsoour destiny to make them last forever.Unfortunately, owning to the separation of conservation plan and culture research,the historical villages are suffering from the lost of their vital culture. There exist toomany bars and west restaurants which are corroding the thousands years culture ofhistorical villages. However, it is the high that we were obliged to save the historicalvillages and continue the culture of them.Based on the theory of culture geography, this thesis includes amounts ofinvestigation and analyst about the historical villages with the support of Eleven FivePlan. From the association point of view, we have researched the relationship betweenculture and space in historical villages. Furthermore, we have proposed the conceptionof the correlation between culture and space based on human activities. At the sametime, we have abstracted7culture factors which play the key roles in the culture andspace of historical village. They are origination and transition, layout conception, folkculture, life model, industrial model, environment system and literatures. All of theculture factors can provide the solid ground for conservation and development strategy.Based on the research of culture space and the analyst of semantics, this thesis hasdiscovered the soul of village culture——the forming process of culture. Besides, thisthesis has manifested the details of conservation and development strategy which isbased on the culture logic. At the same time, we have also compared the culture withthe production in order to demonstrate the relationship between the space changes andculture formation. What is more, we have analyzed the details of conservation anddevelopment strategy based one layout conception and industrial model in order to replenish the current methods.
