A Study On The Morphological Development Of The Modern And Contemporary Chongqing Yuzhong Peninsula

Research on the urban form is one of the important foundations to guide urbansustainable development. Recently, accompanied with the rapid urbanization of China,urban economy and population are increasing swiftly, which further induce the urbanland use growth, urban space expansion and urban restructuring. In view of this, basedon the present lack of research on local urban centers situation, this thesis selectsYuzhong peninsula as the research object, aiming at the historic background and usingthe expansion of urban space as an penetration point, focused on the track, features,problems and dynamic mechanisms of the modern and contemporary YuzhongPeninsula, explored intrinsic relationship between the urban form evolution and urbansocio-economic development, and summarized the basic law of the modern andcontemporary Yuzhong Peninsula urban form evolution. Based on that, this thesisfurther discusses the future possibility of Yuzhong peninsula urban form, in order toprovide some helpful suggestions for the development of Chongqing in the future.This thesis has six chapters: Introduction primarily elaborates the background,definition of scope, significance, methods and framework of this project. Chapter IIfocused on the modern and temporary urban evolutionary, starting with the historicalbackground, depicts objectively how the spatial structure in the urban form evolutionprocess shifts from the macroscopic standpoint. Chapter III and chapter IV are the keysections of this thesis which described how the two layers in urban form theory manifestin the modern and contemporary Chongqing peninsula urban form evolutionrespectively. Firstly, chapter III, aiming at the evolution of modern and contemporaryChongqing Yuzhong peninsula in the previous chapter, started further research of theurban form dynamic mechanism, summarized its evolutionary characteristics. ChapterIV selected urban architectural form, traffic road form and landscape form to furtherstudy from a microscopic standpoint. Chapter VI, aiming at the new situation andpractical problems faced by present Chongqing urban form development, takinghistorical experience, discusses the future urban form development background ofChongqing. Combined with the foregoing discussion, it analyzes the future propositionof Yuzhong Peninsula urban form.
