Integrative Protection And Utilization Of The Industrial Heritage

With the rapid economic development of our China and the adjustment of planning of city industrial layout, the old industrial area inside city couldn’t adapt to the function needs of city, after these industrial enterprises are gradually moved out or closed up, a large number of industrial heritages will remain, and they play an enormous role of preservation value as an important part of cultural heritage in China. On one hand, the industrial architecture shows a strong industry characteristic with its unique building form and style; on the other hand, as the material carrier of recording our industry civilization development, the updated development of industrial legacy, if given new vitality and impetus, will promote the development of regional economy. Taiyuan, as one of heavy industry cities in our China, has a large number of recycled industrial heritages. In recent years, with the rapid update development of city construction in Taiyuan, after the industrial enterprises are gradually migrated, a lot of remaining old buildings are disappearing from the city step by step. In such background, the way to draw lessons from the successful experience of protection and utilization both home and abroad and to protect these industrial heritages reasonably and effectively, has great realistic significance for inheriting and carrying forward the city spirit scene and city culture.Therefore, based on the systematic analysis of related theory of protection and utilization on industrial heritage, this paper first combs the emergence of the industrial architecture in Taiyuan and its historical development vein, and illustrates the current situation and characteristic of industrial legacy through the understanding of its development process and preservation situation. Moreover, the paper carries out quantitative analysis on the industrial legacy in Taiyuan according to the summaries about the value structure and value evaluation standard of industrial legacy, and advises to do different levels protection about it. Meantime, through studying and analyzing many typical cases of protection and utilization about the industrial legacy both home and abroad, the paper has made generalization and summary on the design principle and recycled mode about it. At last, considering the actual situation of industrial legacy in Taiyuan, the paper gives relevant suggestions for protecting different levels of industrial building heritages in Taiyuan, and poses some protection measures for the historical area’s protection and utilization of industrial legacy. The design principle and recycled mode summarized on this paper about the protection and utilization of industrial legacy, provides a theoretical basis for the work of protection and utilization of industrial legacy in industrial areas of Taiyuan and other places in China.
