A Primary Study On The Planning Of The Waterfront Of Xianyang

Water is closely related with the origin of human civilization and development ofthe city. Urban waterfront,which is the great potential developing space, the area ofhighly dynamic economic region and the relative ecological conditions has become thehot spots of the world’s planning and design and urban construction.Xianyang is not only in the south of Moutain Jiu Zong,but also in the north of theWeihe River.As one of the oldest river-crossing city, Xianyang has been built for over2300years since Qin dynasty. With the changing of the space, the urban waterfront hasformed a certain characteristic. With the implementation of the planning ofGuanzhong-Tianshui economic zone and the Xi’an international metropolis, the WeiheRiver is becoming the river which is inside the city. And more and more people is goingot focus on the issue such as how to co-exist with the river, and the development of thewaterfront of Weihe River.This paper which focuses on the study on the waterfront of Weihe river ofXianyang is divided into three parts:First, based on the research of the theory of the waterfront,a series of waterfront offamous crossing-river city in the world have been Investigated and researched. Theprocess of development of different forms of the development of space which belongsto the urban waterfront has been researched as a conclusion. And the waterfront of thecross-river is been phased by using a new way. Then the development of waterfront`shistorical evolution is obtained.Second, with the collation and archiving of the historical documents and planning data, the history of Xianyang`s urban waterfront space morphological evolution anddifferent periods of development history has been summed up as a conclusion.Third, based on the two parts above-mentioned, site investigation and planning inthe waterfront of Weihe river has been put into practice. With the in the background ofthe Xianyang`s waterfront in Xi’an International metropolis,not only the principles andorientations of the waterfront have been determined,but also strategies have beendeveloped according to the sufficiency. Response to road traffic, green, environment,landscape, new energy and new agricultural technology and other aspects of thewaterfront of Xianyang, it has been researched in a system. And the key area has beenresearched as well.The water resources in the rivers in the western region of China havenonhomogeneous distribution or seasonal characteristic.It is quite different from thewaterfront in eastern China or other water-rich region. The waterfront of Xianyang isbeen researched in this paper and a planning is also been finished. The results achieveda meaning for how to develop the Waterfront which is harmonious with the river in westof China.
