Abstract/Summary:
The face gear drive has many unique advantages as a new type gear drive, such asthe high contact ratio and gear ratio, the installation convenience and configurationcompact. With the specificity of the pair of face gear in the split-combination drive ofpower, it shows its potential advantage in the application of aviation fields. Forimproving the transmission performance and meshing quality of the face gear, in thispaper, a grinding method of geanerating face gear by using the conical grinding wheeland the method of pinion asymmetric double crowned modification are proposed.1. A new modification method for face gear drive is proposed as the pinion doublecrowned modification, which two schemes are investigated, the circle trajectory andparabola one. The coordinate systems are established to obtain the surface equations oftooth modified pinion and face gear, and the meshing equation. The tooth surfaces ofpinion drew by Matlab, the comparison of modified surfaces to the prior tooth oneshas been done.2. The mathematical model of the pair of face gear meshing used in TCA has beenset up. The meshing performance investigation of the local conjugate face-gear pair ispresented after the tooth contact analysis has been achieved under taking the assemblyerrors into consideration. The contact path and transmission errors are presented on thepinions of the lengthwise modification and the double crowned modification. Theanalysis of the effect the modification parameters on the meshing performance of theface gear has been done.3. The form-grinding theory of the pinion and the generating grinding theory of theface gear with conical grinding wheel are proposed. The coordinate systems of grind-ing wheels and gears are built to obtain the profile equations of the grinding wheel.The investigation on the dressing theory of the combinated wheel has been done, andthe grinding model of face gear is set up.4. The design of a good performance shaping fixture for face gear on the514gear shaper has been completed, then manufacture of some face gears and the test ofgrinding pinion on the double crowned modification have been done successfully. Thecontact pattern and noise tests are conducted on Y9550bevel gear tester. The results ofthe tests prove that the theoretical researches are right.
