| Zinc oxide is considered to be the third-generation semiconductor with a wide direct bandgap, about3.37eV, and a large exiton bingding energy at room temperature. The great optical properties and electronic properties make ZnO a promising material for applications in photoelectric field.On the other hand glass-ceramics, which consist both disorderd glass regions and ordered crystalline regions, can possess not only the unique properties of the crystalline phase but also the merits of the glass, is also considered to have been widely used in photoelectric filed. But most reports on ZnO are in thin film or powdered, there are few reports on the ZnO glass-ceramics which contains both unique property of ZnO and good formability of glass.In this regard, the work is mainly focus on the formation of ZnO glass-ceramics and the optical properties of ZnO glass-ceramics and rare earth doped ZnO glass-ceramics.First, the transparent ZnO glasses with Al2O3and B2O3were prepared by melting thermal method. XRD shows the ZnO glass-ceramics with ZnO nanocrystal of about10nm were obtained on the samples with Al3+by the heat treatment. Transmition spectra showed that the ZnO galss-ceramics maintain a high transmittance in the visible light range. The emission spectra showed an emission peak at about580nm which was the emission of the ZnO defect. The FTIR showed that the content of [ZnO4/2] is the key that to obtain ZnO glass-ceramics.Secondly the ratio of Si/Al was studied to reveal the effect of Al3+to the formation of ZnO glass-ceramics. The result showed that the content of [ZnO4/2] increased when Si/Al became small, and when the Si/Al reached6, another crystalline phase ZnSi2O4came out during the heat treatment.Thirdly, the effect of the content of ZnO was studie. The result showed that the size of the ZnO nanocrystal became small when the content of ZnO increased. When the content of ZnO was40mol%, the ZnO nanocrystal with very small size was obtain without the heat treatment.Lastly, the Er3+and Eu3+doped ZnO glass-ceramics was prepared. After heat treatment new emission peaks appeared which means energy transfor between ZnO and rare earth. |
