The main functions of wedding dresses are for shaping body to be more beautiful and elegant appearance. The wedding garments are dressed mainly in’the wedding ceremony and wedding photography. However, a corset for molding on thoracolumbar, would cause pressure on human body. If the pressure is over a certain amount, the corset will squeeze visceral, affect the body’s normal breathing, heartbeat, blood circulation, etc., so as to cause damage in health. Therefore, how to scientifically design thoracolumbar structure of corset and research the relation between the molding effect and the affecting factors on human body health, especially in the basis of interdisciplinary such as the clothing ergonomics, human anatomy and mechanics, is a hot topic. The study on the thoracolumbar structure of corset has theoretical significance and practical value.In this paper, firstly, the questionnaire survey of random sampling for consumers in different age phases of women was done. Marketing trend and problems of the wedding dresses were analyzed in detail. The issues to be improved for wedding dresses were found out in the functionality and aesthetics aspects. Thus, the research contents about the corset structure of wedding dresses was determined.Secondly, women in marriageable age between25to30years old are chosen as a group of research object, their human torso data are measured by [TC]2non-contact three-dimensional (3D) body scanner and Martin measuring instrument. The3D body data intermediate model is built. At the same time, the principal factor analysis(PFA) is carried out by using of the survey data and the characteristic point of measurement items are extracted. Based on standard mannequin of84A correction, a intermediate data mannequin is gotten.After that, according to the four characteristic quantities of the basic lateral separating line, longitudinal length, cup rotation and waist convex arc, the table of orthogonal test for four factors and three levels is designed, and nine foundation garment models in different thoracolumbar structure line are designed as well. By the combination of the three-dimensional cutting and flat plate-making method, the nine foundation garment patterns was obtained and costumed. Studies have shown that cup rotation has the greatest influence, longitudinal length has second influence and waist convex arc has most weak influence in raising the chest.The aesthetics aspects of shaping body is a significant parameter to evaluate the quality of corset. A new parameter is proposed for evaluation of shaping effect, in which the values of distance between breasts, chest and waist measurement are considered. The parameter can be applied in design of the thoracolumbar structure of corset more intuitively and more easily. Both comfort and aesthetics of corset are evaluated by dressing of real persons from subjective and objective aspects. The optimal thoracolumbar structure of corset is pointed out.The garment pressure is a critical influence factor on comfort and human health. The calculation model of garment pressure for chest and abdomen is established. There is a good agreement between the calculating values and experimental data.
