The Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Environmental Education In China

Environmental problems have become hot issues of concern to all over the world in the21st century. By reading some related books and reports, people have gradually realized that the global environmental problems result from their unreasonable exploitation and destruction of the natural environment. To better the living environment of the human being, new control measures should be taken and the more important is that the environmental consciousness must be deeply rooted in citizens.The most efficient way to change the idea of citizens and to improve their environmental consciousness is to implement and promote environmental education, an interdisciplinary education activity aiming at improving the environmental consciousness of citizens so they can protect the environment.The thesis begins with the concept of environmental education and introduces the development process of environmental education both at home and abroad. As well as the improved environmental consciousness of citizens and their enhanced enthusiasm of participation in environmental protection, it affirms the great achievements made in environmental education owing to the great concern of the Party and the government. Despite these achievements, the thesis points out that there are still some problems such as no specific legislation, unbalanced regional development, insufficient investment and so on, which should be paid more attention in the future environmental educational work. There is no doubt that it is necessary to improve economic development which can lay a solid material foundation for environmental education. At the same time, publicity and education work should be strengthened through diverse means among which the application of network is more efficient in the information age. Besides, the mature environmental educational work of some developed countries can provide much experience for that of our country. In addition, the ecological culture in ancient China is of great significance to today’s environmental education. Therefore, we should carry forward the construction of ecological culture to establish an environmental education system with Chinese characteristics, thus to develop long-term and comprehensive environmental education.This article is divided into five parts: The first chapter is introduced the research’s background,the purposes,the s ignificance,the present situation,the research methods and the innovation.The second chapter introduced the rise of the environmental education,include the domestic and foreign scholars on the definition of environmental education,the background of the rise of environmental education and the stage of development of international environmental education.etc.The third part introduced the development of environmental education in China,include the three stage of development of environmental education in China,the significance of environmental education.The fourth part analysised the status of environmental education in China,firstly, sure the achievements of China’s environmental education,and also see the problems of China’s environmental education.The fifth part is the important part of the artical,that is how to carry out the Environmental Education.On the whole, strengthening environmental education is of great practical significance to the firm establishment of the concept of conservation culture. It points out in Hu Jintao’s report at the17th Party Congress that promote a conservation culture by basically forming an energy-and resource-efficient and environment-friendly structure of industries, pattern of growth and mode of consumption, and awareness of conservation will be firmly established in the whole of society. It also points out that adhering to the basic state policy of conserving resources and environment is vital to the immediate interests of the people and the survival and development of the Chinese nation, and we must give prominence to building a resource-conserving, environment-friendly society in our strategy for industrialization and modernization and get every organization and family to act accordingly. So various measures should be taken to strengthen environmental education through which all society can realize the urgency and importance of promoting conservation culture so that they can establish the idea and engage in the promotion of conservation culture.
