Research On The Environmental Consciousness Cultivation Of The Contemporary Chinese Citizens

Environment, a globally-concerned issue about the survival and development of human society, is not only a major issue of Marxism, but also practically significant for China to build a well-off, harmonious socialist society. That how well this issue can be resolved is closely related to the success or failure of a comprehensive well-off society construction and building-up of a harmonious socialist society. Therefore, it is urgent for theoretical workers to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth research on this issue from the perspective of history and reality, theory and practice.In China, a variety of reasons account for environmental problems, and the lack of citizen environmental awareness is one of the most important ones. The reasons for the lack of citizens’environmental awareness in China are multifaceted, which mainly include:low socio-economic development level, the citizens’overall low educational level, the lack of environmental publicity and education, low cost of illegal conducts, imperfect environmental culture.In terms of status quo and the causes for our citizens’lack of environmental awareness, this thesis puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to improve the environmental awareness of our citizens:First, it is to vigorously develop social productive forces, which is the economic base for the environmental awareness of citizens; Second, it is to vigorously enforce environmental education, which is the key to the environmental awareness of citizens; Third, it is to strengthen the construction of environmental protection system, which is the guarantee for the citizen environmental awareness in system; Fourth, it is to vigorously enhance the construction of environmental culture, which is the cultural security of the citizen environmental awareness.
