The paper summarizes the research progress of the starch at home and abroad, in a wide selection of natural degradation of the polymer materials, starch is considered to be one of the most promising biodegradable materials because the source of starch is very extensive, inexpensive, can bebiodegradable, in line with environmental protection, inexhaustible, can renewable resources and the regeneration cycle is short, so more and more attention has been paid for starch research and development, much attention for the starch-based biodegradable material production of the real life application. Current application of starch-based material is mainly concentrated in the resin, crosslinking agent, flocculant; degradation of starch-based materials, mainly concentrated in the filled plastic, filled starch plastics has performance limitations OK, not can be completely degraded, foreign countries have to set out type material. Whole starch, degradable plastics, and the main raw material for starch renewable, cheap, the annual production of large, but large-scale application of starch-based biodegradable plastics still exist some problems such as:cost narrow range of performance, can be used, especially its price is a serious impediment to the promotion of the starch plastic.Filled plastic containing the synthetic resin, synthetic resin because of its relatively high molecular weight, biodegradable, and their blends, system compatibility is not good. The purpose of this paper is to prepare a resolve compatibility problems, to solve the cost problem and the ability to degrade starch-based materials.The Graft copolymerization of methyl mathacrylate (MMA) and butyl acrylate (BA) onto corn starch was carried out using cerium ammonium nitrate and ammonium persulfate as initiator. Also characterize the structure of graft copolymers was determined by IR,1H-NMR, X-ray and TGA.Study on the grafting ratio and grafting efficiency about the different ratio of starch and MMA, BA.Prepared of St-g-MMA/BA graft polymer with good resistance to chemical solvents and thermogravimetric stability (initial thermal weight loss temperature of252.9℃), tensile properties,and the biodegradable.
