Fixture assembly is an extremely important element in teaching and practicing of machinery manufacturing. In order to display the fixture assembly action more image and get rid of one-sided, rigid constraints in the teaching such as the physical display, picture viewing, etc, this article develop a type rotary drill cover plate fixture virtual assembly system, which Combined with virtual reality technology. This system allows students understand the fixture assembly, positioning, clamping and other activities more iconically and concretely.This paper studies the three-dimensional model of drilling fixture, combined with the virtual assembly technology fixture assembly design model. After comparing several virtual reality development tools, we select the virtual assembly system based on Virtools, which make three-dimensional modeling of fixture in UG, rendering the material in3Ds Max and completed fixture assembly control in Virtools and then output the file. This study developed a drilling fixture virtual assembly system based on virtual assembly technology, drilling fixture design features, fixtures and assembly process of analysis accuracy. After making the overall design of the system development function, general idea and the development process, the paper also make a planning for the assembly sequence and assembly path and then make an interference detection. This paper develops the assembly system which meet the design requirements based on complete theory and described the whole process of virtual assembly in detail with the example of drill fixture virtual assembly. In the assembly process, you can not only see any angle fixture parts, but also the entire assembly process of drilling fixture, on the other hand, you can manually control the parts of the assembly and experience the assembly fixture order requirements of various drilling parts.Practice has proved that this development of the virtual assembly system is simple, easy to implement and has a good interaction and a strong sense of reality.
