Fabric Style Research is focused on the digitized fashion design at home andabroad. Recently, due to the development of the3D simulation technique, people graduallystarted their research to look for a more scientific way to evaluate the quality of fabric. Inearlier time, we used to judge the quality of fabric by touching it or perception. Today,people use the scientific appliance to establish an objective evaluation system to evaluate thefabric style and its handle; therefore the fabric style evaluation has been gradually improvedand developed from sensory judge to scientific test, which is more objective and fair.Compared with the countries which have more advanced evaluation system offabric style, China fabric industry is still based on a more traditional subjective evaluationsystem. We should change such situation and start using scientific appliance to measure thephysical and mechanical values of fabric. Only if the database and scientific evaluationsystem has been established, Chinese textile, garment product and market can be morecompetitive.Therefore, this article is researched on the relationship between physicalmechanics and fabric style. Based on the fabric style, we try to establish the physicalevaluation mode. The initial theory is also based on the fabric style design technology. Asthe apparel fabric style database has been completed, we can achieve the virtual fabricdesign through objective evaluation of fabric style.The principal duties of this article are as follows:1. Test different kinds of fabric tofind its physical property such as range of extension, bending, shearing, weight and otherphysical properties.2. Use the fabric dynamic drape test and high-speed photography toobtain the physical index of fabric dynamic drape. Meanwhile, fabric dynamic surfaces willbe extracted form fabric dynamic pictures to establish the equation of fabric trajectory, thusthe fabric style dynamic index will be obtained.3. The relationship mode can be verified byvirtual fitting system.4. This article will verify and use the fabric physical evaluation modein virtual fitting system.5. Fabric database will be built and the theory can be used in fabric design and production.Via studying this article, fabric style can be predicated and used in apparel virtualfabric design. It is of great theoretical and practical value in fabric design and production.
