China’s economy has been improved greatly with the rapid development of economicglobalization. Urged by multi-ethnic and multi-national cultural exchanges, our country’smaterial and ideological progress are both seeking for innovation and way out. People relymore and more on emotion in the complicated social life, thus homewear needs to not onlyhave good wearability but also should satisfy users’ emotional requirements. Pleasure is oneof the most fundamental andoriginal emotions which is longed for by human beings’ instinct.So it’s certain that the new-style homewear take the responsibility to create pleasure for usersand set it as a goal to provide users with positive emotions which would please users in bodyand spirit.First of all, domestic and overseas history of homewear was studied and analyzed. It isfound that contemporary homewear is the successor of western homewear’s developinghistory, as its shape, structure, color, style, material and social value are based on the featuresof western clothing. But “Yanju costume” emerged at Shang and Zhou dynasties is similar tocontemporary homewear in dressing ways, applicable occasions and internal culture. It playsan important role in China’s homewear history and has crucial instructive significance on thedesign of modern homewear.Secondly, the definition, categories and implementary methods of pleasure in homeweardesign were expounded. Then the domestic homewear market was investigated and analyzedthrough observation, recording and questionnaire. On the basis of knowing well the pleasureelements in homewear design,two investigations are conducted respectively at Yangtze RiverDelta(Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nantong) and Pearl River Delta(Guangzhou, Shantou). Theeffects of each pleasure element on homewear consumption were obtained. The objective andsubjective factors that block homewear market from getting mature were analyzed.On the basis of the above study, the author designed homewear products for“Hengyuanxiang” from2010to2011. Representative designs were selected to test thefeasibility of the method proposed in the aspects of physical pleasure, social pleasure, mentalpleasure, and ideology pleasure respectively.
