With the development of China’s coal mining technology, the development of hydraulic support has been put forward a higher requirement according to the different condition of mine. For the large, safe and efficient mine and working face, it must pay the attention to the development of large resistance, high reliability and electro-hydraulic control system of hydraulic support. For the complex conditions of the medium and small coal mines and small coal mining working face, it must undertake technical reformation to promote the use of compact type hydraulic support.Adjustable direction suspension roof timber hydraulic support is an innovative model of hydraulic support which has been developed according to the current coal mining technology and requirement. It gives full play to the characteristics of small volume, light weight and convenient to move of the simple hydraulic support and developed two-way slide direction adjusting mechanism on the basis of the original, which makes the support effectively overcome the problem of skew and deviation. This paper established a three-dimensional parametric model of hydraulic bracket and made a strength analysis of the key structure of bracket using the finite element analysis software ANSYS to ensure the reliable operation of the bracket in the work.The stability and adaptability of the adjustable direction suspension roof timber hydraulic support are the key problem in mine, whereas, the adaptability research of surrounding rock of coal face of the direction adjustable hydraulic support of suspension roof timber has become the focus in this paper. This paper started from the mine pressure, analyzed the mine pressure feature in the overlying strata of the support and the mechanics balance and solved the adaptability problems of the kind of support and roof and floor, finally, judged the stability of the support by the mechanics balance. Using the numerical simulation method and combining the rock and soil mechanics3D finite element numerical simulation software FLAC3D, this paper reasonably determined the supporting strength and set up the whole finite element model of support and surrounding rock of the system of support and surrounding rock and made a interaction of coupled simulation of support and rock, which would play a certain promoting role for the further application and development of direction adjustable hydraulic support of suspension roof timber.
