ESR is one of the primary means of special metallurgy, the melting steel for its high purity, good crystallinity, excellent mechanical properties becomes the first choice of a variety of high.grade steel and special steel. As a secondary refining metallurgical technology, bipolar technology used in the ESR series has a new metallurgical characteristics. Its unique power supply, so that the power factor of electroslag furnace can be increased to above0.9to reduce the power consumption to a large extent, and have brought tangible economic benefits.This paper’s background is from the project of two anus remelting electroslag furnace of30tons of Chinese First Heavy Industry, and the research object is electroslag furnace with double series. By analyzing effection which electrode dipping into the depth of slag pool, electromagnetic fields, temperature fields, electrode melting rate has on the ESR process and combining with heat transfer theory and the heat balance integral method, we study the thermal equilibrium process for electrode melting, the heat transfer process within the slag pool and the heat transfer balance process between the slag pool and the electrodes, so the ESR electrode process lumped model is constructed by servo valve, valve control cylinder, electrodes location, slag resistance, slag pool’s temperature and melting speed. According to electroslag metallurgy craft and data from previous experiments and particular calculation and derivation, determining the value of each parameter in the model constructed. To build the system model simulation platform in Matlab/Simulink environment, do the simulation and analyze the result, which is compared with the actual working conditions, we can verify the validity of the model.In this thesis, simulation is done in process characteristics in ESR process for studying and verifying the time-varying, being disturbed and nonlinear system to simulate actual productive process. In allusion to the condition of the changes in resistance of short-network, load force, the system input, and segregation occurs on electrode and the cooling effect variation for cooling water, we use the way of programming in the Matlab/Simulink environment to realize the simulation emulationally. From the results of simulation, we got the conclusion of output of system shake strongly at the beginning and the end in ESR process when vary the resistance of short-network, but it is affected weakly in the middle stage, which can verify system has nonlinear; Load force affect the electrode feed rate and then affect the melting rate, and the effection of load force is not very large; the little change of system’s input could cause great change in output; When segregation occurs on eletrode, the heat conduction is blocked, and the electrode melting rate will change accordingly; Practical ESR is time-varying, which is mostly reflected in the cooling effect of the cooling water keeps getting worse with melting, the electrode melting rate gradually become larger, so it’s necessary to control the melting speed to ensure the quality of ingots. Through simulation studies for process characteristics, we could not only further verify the validity of the model, and clearly know the degree of various influences of the parameters in the process of remelting.We have verified the validity of the model in the thesis. The model can provides test subjects for process control, optimization, fault diagnosis aspects of research, It has the practical application value.
