A Study On The Culture Of The South Of Guangdong Applied To The Design For The Torchbearer Uniforms In The2010Guangzhou Asian Games

The Asian Games is an essential part of the modern Olympic Games which is themost popular and influential event in the world. From the very beginning of the AsianGames, the torch relay, as well as the torch and the torchbearer uniforms has alwaysattracted the attention of people around the world. As a result, there has been a focus whichlies in the integrity of the Olympic Games spirit and the culture of the host city in thehistory of the Asian Games.In light of the author’s own experience of completing the designing project, the thesisdiscusses the process of designing the torchbearer uniforms and analyses its developmentsand changes. During the designing, the author puts forward an idea on how to present theculture of the south of Guangdong on resolving the conflicts between the visual effect andthe social performance. In addition, the thesis researches the culture of the south ofGuangdong, the designing concept, and the garments’ colors and patterns, with the purposeof exploring the basic principles and rules of designing torchbearer uniforms.In the end, the thesis emphasizes the importance of culture factors that relate to thevisual design of great sports meetings, describes the process on how to convey the abstractcultural connotation through the visual elements and predicts the trend of the visual designfor important sports events as well.
