Activated carbon adsorption is one of useful methods for urban sewage advanced treatment. The activated carbon need to be regenerated for recovery when it comes to saturate adsorption. Microwave irradiation regeneration has huge potential as a high efficiency, energy-saving and time-saving regeneration technology. This topic focused on optimizing microwave irradiation regeneration conditions, economically apply to urban sewage advanced treatment, providing a way for low concentration domestic sewage advanced treatment.The experiment take urban sewage as target to investigate powder activated carbon static absorption and regeneration, granular activated carbon column dynamic absorption and regeneration, then come to the optimal absorption condition. This experiment drew a conclusion of optimal regeneration condition of powder and granular activated carbon. The results showed as follows:(1) Powder activated carbon is in good adsorption effect to organic matter of wastewater, when dosage of250mg/L, adsorption time of30min, COD decreased to19.3mg/L and removal ratio is about49.2%. This result reached experiment expected requirement and meet environmental quality standards for surface water (GB3838-88) of III kind.(2) Considering of energy consumption and regeneration effects, the optimal condition of powder activated carbon microwave irradiation regeneration was at regenerated power464W and regenerated time40s, the powder activated carbon synthesis restoration ratio was99.76%. After6times regeneration, synthesis restoration ratio of powder activated carbon kept above81%, showing good regeneration effect.(3) Granular activated carbon with continuous flow experiment chose100mL/min filtering velocity as optimal condition, COD decreased to7.6mg/L and removal ratio was about77.4%at filtration bed thickness of1200mm, meeting environmental quality standard for surface water (GB3838-88) of II kind. Therefore, this experiment device is feasible to urban sewage advanced treatment.(4) Considering of energy consumption and regeneration effects, the optimal condition of granular activated carbon microwave irradiation regeneration was at regenerated power464W and regenerated time2minutes, the granular activated carbon synthesis restoration ratio was94.90%. After6times regeneration, synthesis restoration ratio of granular activated carbon kept above93%, showing good regeneration effect.
