During the development of social economy, the land use structure and model change all the time, which lead to the changing of the material resources distribution mode. Consequently, the size and type of regional material input-output system is affected, thus the regional eco-security status is finally decided.So far, the study on the analysis method to evaluate the eco-security by means of material flow has not launched yet. In this paper, the initial analysis on evaluating the eco-security by means of material flow was developed. And Suzhou City in Jiangsu Province was taken as a typical case, using Erdas and Arcgis software platform. Four remote sensing images of Suzhou City was explained by means of Hierarchical Classification. The changing feature of the land use in Suzhou City during1995-2009was investigated. And then, the relativity between the comprehensive index of the land use in Suzhou City and material flow was discussed using Principal component regression analysis on spss platform and the data of material flow. The results initially showed the response mechanism of land use changing and the material metabolism. And then, in the frame of the material flow analysis, the evaluation system of the land use eco-security in Suzhou City was established. And the land use eco-security in Suzhou City was evaluated by means of the extreme difference normalization, the unbiased variance evaluation and the evaluation mode of the eco-security. According to the evaluation results, the methods of improving the land use eco-security were put forward. The main conclusion is as following.1. The features of the land use in Suzhou CityThe land type taking the leading position in the structural changing of the land use has its own property of stage. The land use intension in Suzhou City has the trend of increasing.2. The relativity of the land use changing and material flowThe positive relativity is observed between the quantity values of material flow and the land use intension, which means Material metabolic flux value increased about9.2%w ith the land use intension about10%. And the negative relativity is observed between Material metabolism efficiency value and the land use intension, which means Material metabolism efficiency value decreased about12.1%with the land use intension increasing about10%.3. the land use eco-security evaluation based on the material flow analysisIn the frame of the material flow analysis, the evaluation index system of t3, el. the land use eco-security is built, which is composed of three comprehensive indexs, Land-use material input system. Land use ecosystem、Land-use material output system, including13detailed index. By the analysis of the land use comprehensive evaluation index, it’s observed that the land use eco-security level transits from normal status of6.972to bad status of3.159in recent15years in Suzhou City.4. The countermeasure of improving the land use eco-security levelAccording to the features of the land use and eco-security in Suzhou City, the suggestions were put forward from the following4aspects, i. e. improving the material metabolism efficiency and its comprehensive treatment of the waste, modifying the structure and method of land use, controlling the populationsize and improving the quality of the people, take active propaganda on the land ecological protection, and establishing and improving the legal system of the land use eco-security protection.
